Accessibility Statement

Last updated on 23 September 2026.

Oxford University Padel Club wants everyone to be able to use this site, including people who browse with a screen reader, with a keyboard alone, or at a high magnification. This page sets out what we have done, where the site may still fall short, and how to tell us about a problem.

What web accessibility means

An accessible site lets visitors with disabilities read it and move around it as easily as anyone else. That depends partly on how the site is built and partly on the assistive technology someone is using, such as a screen reader, voice control or a screen magnifier.

What we have done

This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. It is built on Wix. In putting it together we have:

  • set the language of the site to English, so a screen reader reads it correctly;

  • given every image that carries meaning a text alternative, and marked decorative images so screen readers skip them;

  • given each page one main heading, with sub-headings in order beneath it, so a page can be skimmed by heading;

  • used ordinary links and buttons throughout, which can be reached and operated with a keyboard;

  • written link text that says where it goes, rather than “click here”;

  • laid out every page so it works on a phone as well as a laptop.

Where this site may fall short

Some of what we publish is not a web page. Our constitution, Code of Conduct, Safety Policy and the rest appear as PDFs on the club documents page, and a PDF is not always as easy to read as the page around it. Ask us and we will send any of them in another format. The site has not been through a formal accessibility audit and has not been tested by disabled users, so if something does not work for you, telling us is the most useful thing you can do.

Coming to a session

Our home courts are at Smash Padel Oxford in North Hinksey. If there is something that would make it easier for you to come and play, write to us first and we will do what we can, or say so in the message box on the join the club page. We would much rather hear from you early than not at all.

Telling us about a problem

If you find something on this site you cannot use, please tell us. Email oxforduniversitypadel@gmail.com, saying which page you were on and what happened, and we will reply as soon as we can in term time. The committee is responsible for the site, and anything that cannot be settled that way can be raised under the complaints procedure in our club documents.

You may also want to read our privacy notice, see what is on this term’s events and fixtures page, or start with about the club.
