Two men's pairs through to the National Finals
Oxford University Padel Club's first season in the National University Padel League ends today in Bristol. Two of our men's pairs are among the qualifiers for the league's national Finals Day at Rocket Padel. After four South East Conference fixture days, one pair has earned a place among the twelve best Men's Division 1 pairs in the country. The other has qualified for the Men's Division 2 knockout.
How they got there
Pairs qualify for Finals Day through their conference. Over the regular season each pair plays every other pair in its division except the other pair from its own university, and the top-performing pairs in each conference go through. In the club's own words, our pairs went "storming through" the South East fixtures. The first fixture day was at Padel Hub Reading in October, where our Division 1 pairs won six of their eight matches. By the halfway stage in January our first men's pair were still unbeaten, with five wins from five.
Finals Day
Finals Day brings 72 players from the league's twenty universities together for a single day of knockout padel. Play starts at 10am, with twelve courts in use in the early rounds. UK PADEL, the league's title sponsor, is livestreaming the matches on Court 1, including the women's final at 2.45pm and the men's final at 4pm. Details of the stream are on the league's Instagram, @nuplpadel.
A first season
For a club in its first league season, sending two pairs to the national finals is a real achievement. The club entered the competition in 2025–26 alongside nineteen other universities, in a South East Conference that also included Reading, LSE and Oxford Brookes. Both pairs have earned their places. The result also reflects well on every player who represented the club in the South East this season.
Good luck to both pairs today.
