A partnership with Smash Padel Oxford
Oxford University Padel Club is delighted to announce a partnership with Smash Padel Oxford. Members can now play at the venue on better terms, and the club has a home court on which to build its programme of sessions and competition.
What the partnership offers
Members get three benefits. The first is reduced booking fees. Court hire is the main cost of playing padel regularly, so this is the benefit that will make the most difference week to week. The second is free racket rental, so nobody has to buy equipment before finding out whether the sport is for them. The third is a set of booking times reserved for club members, which will make it much easier to arrange sessions as the membership grows.
These benefits go to the heart of what the club is for. Padel is quick to learn and very sociable, but students will only take it up if they can get on court affordably and without spending a lot on kit first. The partnership helps with both.
The venue
Smash Padel Oxford is based at Oxford Lawn Tennis Club in North Hinksey Village, just west of the city (OX2 0NA). It has three panoramic outdoor courts. All three are floodlit, so play can carry on into the evening after lectures and tutorials.
First on court
The partnership starts with a date for the diary. The club's first tournament, organised with Smash Padel Oxford, will be held at the venue on the afternoon of Sunday 1 June. It is the first chance for members to compete together in the club's name, and we hope to see as many of you there as possible.
Follow the club's Instagram, @oxfordunipadel, for updates. We are grateful to Smash Padel Oxford for supporting student padel, and we look forward to a long and happy association.
